Day 1 – Madrid
Pack your suitcase and let’s go! Start this trip through Europe in Group – Family Break in Europe – our adventure through Europe where you will get to know many places of the continent and live unforgettable experiences.
After picking you up at the airport we will take a city tour to get a first impression of Madrid.
We will start in the Hapsburg Madrid, a large area of the capital of Spain corresponding to the medieval layout of the city where we can find the famous Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Plaza de Oriente along with the Royal Palace, the Sabatini Gardens or the Almudena Cathedral, undoubtedly a set formed by the main attractions of the city.

Do you know…
- Madrid is home to the oldest restaurant in the world! Casa Botín, founded in 1725, is recognized by the Guinness Book of Records.
- The Royal Palace has truly amazing dimensions. With an extension of 135,000 square meters, it is the largest royal palace in Western Europe and, therefore, one of the largest in the world.
- In the Puerta del Sol is the km O, the point from which one begins to measure the distances to all corners of Spain.
- The statue called Fallen Angel is located in El Retiro Park at 666 meters above sea level which is the number of the devil. It was built by Ricardo Bellver and shows eight monster heads on the pedestal base supporting the Fallen Angel.
- Madrid also has a Walk of Fame located on Martin de los Heros Street. The street, famous for its movie theaters, mimics Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame” and includes the most important stars of Spanish cinema.
- The Egyptian government gave a temple to Madrid as a gift to thank Spain for its help in saving the temples of Nubia. From the Temple of Debod you can see a beautiful sunset.
Day 2 – Madrid
You will have a half day excursion to Toledo. You will have the option to do a fun zipline.
For this afternoon/evening of this tour we have an optional tapas tour. If you want to enjoy the time at your leisure, we recommend some of the terraces in the Spanish capital. Yes, we know the choice is going to be difficult, which one to choose? We recommend La Azotea del Círculo de Bellas Artes or the terrace of Ginkgo Sky Bar.

- In the Retiro Park there is a statue of Satan himself, one of the few representations of the devil in the world and the only one in Spain. It is the Monument of the Fallen Angel and is exactly 666 meters above sea level.
Day 3 – Madrid – Barcelona
Today in this group trip through Europe we will leave Madrid in the morning, passing through the ancient kingdom of Aragon and its Roman capital “Caesar Augusta”, today called Zaragoza. We will continue to the city of Barcelona, passing through the desert area of Monegros. We will arrive in Barcelona in the afternoon/evening for a first ride.

- Gaudi’s well-known Sagrada Familia still does not have a concrete completion date. The project is so large and complex that it is still unknown when it will be finished.
- In Barcelona there is a statue of Liberty, one of the three original ones. You can see it in the Arús Library, near the Arc de Triomphe. The other two are in New York and Paris.
- The avenue that collects the main works of the Master Gaudí are in the Passeig de Gracia, and are of the twentieth century. Let yourself be fascinated by the famous houses of La Pedrera and Battló.
- They say that if you drink the water from the Canaletas Fountain you will return to Barcelona.
- There is a labyrinth called Laberinto de Horta which has been the location of movies like “El Perfume”.
Day 4 – Barcelona – Ferry
Today we are going to walk around this beautiful city. Its streets, its nooks and crannies, its squares, its magnificent historic center and architecture have made it the world’s tourist capital that we know today.
The Sagrada Familia, Passeig de Gracia, Casa Batlló, the mythical Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter with its impressive cathedral are just a small part of what the city has to offer.

In the afternoon/evening, we will continue this family tour and go to the port to board a ferry. We will spend the night on an elegant ship with all the necessary facilities to make the tour very enjoyable: disco, video game room, restaurants, 24h cafes, swimming pool, gym, health center, casino… So have a gin and tonic, and let yourself be caressed by the Mediterranean breeze!
Breakfast on the ferry is not included.
Día 5 – Ferry – Rome
After 20 hours of adventure in the Mediterranean we will arrive in Civitavecchia and then transfer to Rome to sleep.
Day 6 – Rome
After a full day crossing the Mediterranean, we will arrive in Rome, Civitavecchia, for dinner, pizza and pasta! Rome is known as the “Eternal City” and everything has its explanation. In this city time seems to have stopped centuries ago due to the multitude of monuments and remains of imposing buildings. This makes walking through its streets becomes a journey back in time, to the time of maximum splendor of the capital during this trip through Europe in group.
Rome is not only a city with a lot of history, but it also has the smallest city in the world: the Vatican. With its gigantic square and the cathedral of St. Peter with the dome you can climb, it is one of the most fascinating places in Rome. Apart from this, we will visit the Colosseum and stroll through the city. We pass through the Roman Forums, where you will find the most ancient remains of Rome.

- That the coins thrown into the Trevi Fountain are given to Caritas.
- The Conditum Paradoxum, which is prepared with wine, honey, and spices, is one of the most famous drinks in Ancient Rome. Today it is replaced by Aperol Spritz.

Day 7 – Rome – Florence
Good morning!
After some free time in the eternal city, we will set the GPS bus to Florence, to sleep in the beautiful Tuscany. We will have time to visit Florence the next day on one of our trips to Europe for students. Besides, Florence is a city that has a lot of life and art everywhere you look.
Don’t hesitate to stroll through its amazing streets, stores, and enjoy a delicious pasta.

- The Vatican State is a sovereign country with only 0.44 km2. It is the smallest country in the world, which is bordered by a country, Italy, that completely surrounds it. Not only that, but the Vatican is home to St. Peter’s Basilica, which is the largest church in the world.
- The only bank in the world that allows users at ATMs to select Latin as their language is located in the Vatican Bank.
Day 8 – Florence – Pisa – Venice
Today we leave Florence for Venice, today we will visit in an included excursion the city of the most famous tower in the world. You will be amazed by the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa.
We leave Pisa and arrive in Venice in the evening, “the city of canals”.

Day 9 – Venice
Today we will spend the day in Venice for a walk along the lagoon, Rialto, visit the Basilica of San Marco and other major sites. And of course we will not miss a ride on the typical gondolas along the canals.

- The last bridge built in Venice was designed by a Spanish architect: Calatrava.
- From time to time in Venice there is a phenomenon called “Acqua Alta”. It causes a sharp rise in the water level in the lagoon of Venice, usually lasting about 3 – 4 hours. Depending on the intensity with which it occurs, it can flood, with half a meter of water, most of the historic center.
- No cars, not even bicycles, are allowed in Venice because it is forbidden, and you will even be fined. The only way to move around the city is on foot or by water.
- Although walking around Venice, we have the impression that there are many canals, there are only two, the Grand Canal and the Giudecca Canal. The rest of the small canals that flow between the narrow streets are called rivers.
- The gondolas are black because there is a restriction so that rich Venetians would stop competing to show who had the most decorated and expensive gondola.

Day 10 – Venice – Milan
Breakfast and departure to Milan. We will cross all of northern Italy, the Padana plain, to go to another iconic Italian city, Milan. Apart from being the fashion city of Italy, it is one of the largest industrial and commercial enclaves in the world. We will visit the Duomo, its neo-gothic cathedral and then we will continue our way to France!

- The symbol of the city is the biscione, a dragon holding a young boy in its jaws. It recalls one of the great Milanese families.
- In Piazza Vetra witches and heretics were burned because it was part of the Inquisition.
Day 11 – Milan – Alps – Geneva
After breakfast we will drive to the Alps, the most impressive mountain range in Europe.
Upon arrival at Mont Blanc, the highest peak in Europe that separates Italy from France. Weather permitting we will climb to the summit, otherwise you will stop to enjoy the snow or the incredible alpine scenery.
In the evening you will head towards Geneva, one of the most famous cities in the world for being the headquarters of important international organizations such as the UN, the WTO or CERN. Here you can admire the Leman Lake that flows into the Rhone River.
Overnight in Geneva or surroundings.
Day 12 – Geneva – Paris
Geneva is a beautiful French city where you will feel like in a fairy tale because it is located next to a lake and is surrounded by the Alps. Today we will continue this first trip to Europe. We get back on our friend the Unitrips bus, after having a good breakfast in Geneva, we will head back to “The City of Love”.
In the evening you will have included our Paris by Night, a panoramic tour of Paris.

- Two rivers meet in Geneva, the Rhône and the Arve. The two are different in origin and color but join in Geneva before flowing through France.
- Geneva is home to the longest wooden bank in the world. In a small sunny square called La Promenade de la Treille you can rest on the bench that was built in 1767 with 180 wooden planks and enjoy a spectacular view.

Day 13 – Paris
Today on this first trip to Europe we will wake up in the “City of Light” and after having a croissant for breakfast, we will visit the wonderful gardens of Versailles. Later we will start our route through Paris, we will get lost in Montmartre, you will see the basilica and the Red Mill. Montmartre is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods of Paris known for its cafes and artists.

- The Eiffel Tower is 18 cm higher in summer due to iron expansion.
- Do you know why Paris is called the City of Light? Because there were many robberies in it, then its mayor had candles put in the windows until gas lamps were placed, being the first city illuminated in this way.
- There is a so-called “Paris Syndrome” that affects the Japanese who arrive in the city and are disappointed when they do not achieve the prospects they expected. There is even a 24-hour hotline for those affected.
Day 14 – Paris – Bordeaux
Optional: photo session. You will have a guided tour and free time to have lunch and stroll at your leisure. We will leave Paris behind and head to Bordeaux.
Upon arrival we will take an evening stroll through this beautiful city famous for its regional wine.

- One of the last half-timbered houses is located in Bordeaux. It is of the half-timbered style in the shape of the St. Andrew’s cross.
- The Pont de Pierre in Bordeaux is the only one that crossed the Garonne River until 1965. It was built with 17 arches, one for each letter of Napoleon Bonaparte’s name
Day 15 – Bordeaux – San Sebastian – Madrid
We leave Bordeaux to go to the city where it all started: Madrid. We will leave Bordeaux and after crossing the French Basque countries we will cross the border to Spain and stop in San Sebastian, one of the best coastal cities in Spain, not only for its 3 beautiful beaches, but also for its mix of nouveau architecture and its Basque gastronomy. Dare to try the typical pintxos!
In the evening we will arrive in Madrid where we will check in.

- The Paseo de la Costa Donostia is the only road where you can still see the sea except when you go through the Miramar tunnel.
Día 16 – Madrid
You will have the whole day to visit what you still have to see in the Spanish capital. There is still a lot to see here.
Día 17 – Madrid
Today you can spend a day of fun at Warner Park and let your adrenaline flow!
Día 18 – Madrid

Transport by Bus:
Transportation will be by private bus. Important: On this trip, the group may be divided into several buses in case of high demand, so for logistical reasons, Unitrips does not ensure that all travelers take the tour in the same bus. Unitrips will allocate the seats on the buses to the travelers.

Accommodation:
The multiple rooms are from 3 to 9 beds, depending on the availability of the establishment. If you want double/twin or single room you can book the extra service present in the booking form. The cities where we will sleep may vary depending on the availability of the accommodations, without this implying a major change in the course of the program. Unitrips reserves the right to make reservations in cities close to those mentioned in case of unavailability.
Tour language:
The main language of the tour will be Spanish. However, translations will be provided as far as possible for English-speaking participants as it is not feasible to conduct the tour in 2 languages simultaneously.
Minimum of Participants:
As this is a group trip, it will only take place when there is a minimum of 30 participants per trip.
