Taxi Madrid
Taxis in Madrid are on easy way to get around the city. The prices always vary a little depedning on the time of day in which you are travelling. It is not very cheap nor expensive in comparrision to other european capitals. There are usually no issues when you are trying to find one, especially at the airport where they are always waiting at the exit.
Bus Express:
Madrid is heavily reliant upon its bus service as it connects the centre of the city (Atocha and Cibeles) to Barajas Airport. The bus, named “Exprés Aeropuerto” runs 24 hourd a day, every day of the year, a great advantage for those who have flights very early in the morning between 1:30 and 6:00 (when the metro isn´t running).
The journey to the city centre takes about 30 minutes and leave from terminals 1, 2 and 4. These buses leave every 15-20 minutes during the day and every 35 minutes at night. Each ticket costs 5€, which is paid to the bus driver.
The stops from T4 and so oneare T2, T1, O´Donnell (connection to Calle Doctor Esquerdo), Plaza de Cibeles (strategic point for all EMT night bus lines) and Atocha station (which operates between 6:00am and 23:30pm)
Metro:
The metro system in madrid is one of the best in Europe. It can be used to get to and from the airport very easily. For us, the metro is one of the best and most practical options to get where you need to go.
The journey to the city centre takes around 30-50 minutes although you may have to change metro lines along the way.
Ticket prices from the airport have an extra change of 3€ which you can pay in the station.
Cercanías:
The Renfe train service, which is run by the community of Madrid, connects many different points of the city with termial 4 of Barajas airport on the Cercanías network.
The line you need to get to and from the airport is “C1”: the most central stations that this line passes through are Chamartín, Nuevos Ministerios, Recoletos, Atocha, Príncipe Pío, etc.
This line runs from 6:00am to 23:00pm and comes around every 40 minutes (aprox). The price of a ticket is 2.60€.
