Although it’s not the capital of Morocco, Marrakesh is without a doubt the cultural and touristic heart of the country. It is not just the local sights that make this city so great, but the multitude of opportunities for travellers ranging from camel rides through the desert to exploring hidden gems that you would never imagine were so close to Spain. There are so many trips and excursions from Marrakesh that you can join to discover the rest of Morocco.
Immerse yourself in One Thousand and One Nights without even having to travel to Arabia. Take a look at the trips we offer below:
THE OURIKA VALLEY
The Ourika Valley remains one of the most beautiful and well-preserved valleys in Morocco. The waterfalls and rocky landscapes entangled with the ever present desert form a wild and seductive harmony in the confines of the western world. This is one of the most popular tours from Marrakesh due to this huge tourist attraction. One of the best excursions from Marrakesh is visiting this valley.
During the tour you will visit the town of Setti-Fatma, where it is easy to find a Spanish-speaking tour guide which can be helpful during the trip. From Setti-Fatma we will visit the Ourika Falls, a natural beauty. Although bathing in the river is an option, the water is freezing and you must tread carefully. Remember that you will have to walk on rocky terrain which require you to wear good footwear.

Here you will also see a typical Berber house. This excursion is very interesting but is purely touristic. You will have the opportunity to go into a house where the father of the family will make you a traditional tea. On the way out of the house, they will be selling homemade local crafts similar to what you will see in the local markets. The most famous ones in the area are Ourika and Aghbalou.
ESSAOUIRA
This is another one of the most popular trips and best excursions from Marrakesh and after reading this you’ll see why!

This city is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its charm and authenticity. Worthy of adventurers, you will be fascinated by the hospitality of the people in this city, as well as their history and experiences since they have been mixing cultures, civilizations and religions for centuries. In Essaouira there are several places of interest that we will definitely visit including the Medina, which is formed of wide streets full of galleries that give way to numerous workshops of artists, small shops of all kinds, coffee shops and restaurants. The gates are monumental, like those of Bab Sbâa, Bab Marrakech or Bab Doukhala and you will feel like you have gone back in time as the streets are filled with wagons and mules rather than motor vehicles. The contrast between the white walls and colourful doors and windows feels like you’ve been transported to a mediterranean island – a treat not to be missed!
THE OUZOUD FALLS
The Ouzoud waterfalls are the largest and most impressive waterfalls in North Africa. 150 kilometres from Marrakesh, these waterfalls are located in the province of Tanaghmeilt and reach heights of 110m. The walkway through the waterfalls is beautiful and surrounded by waterfalls and plants where you can take dreamlike photos. Monkeys are also a common occurrence and despite being cold, you can even bathe in the water.
In Ouzoud you will also find heaps of restaurants with beautiful views of the waterfalls. Ignore the tour guides who will recommend you go to the more expensive restaurants without views! This is truly one of the best excursions from marrakesh.

OUARZAZATE
Ouarzazate is a city located in the south of Morocco known as the Gate to the Desert. Ouarzazate is a must stop on the road that separates Marrakesh from the Sahara Desert.
One thing you can enjoy here is the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified town located 30 kilometres before Ouarzazate from Marrakesh. Major productions such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, The Mummy and Jewel of the Nile have been filmed here. For this reason it has been named the African Hollywood. Do not forget to pass by the Kasbah Taourirt, another fortified city nearby Ouarzazate. The building is surprisingly made with adobe brick, has crenellated towers and is considered one of the best preserved in Morocco.
