Milan. The Italian city of fashion, renowned worldwide for the quality of its designs and its catwalks. Everything that takes place in Milan at a stylistic level, is a symbol of its price tag, so if you’re a student of arts or fashion, it is without a doubt the city where you’ll be closest to fulfilling your dreams.
What to see on your Erasmus in Milan

Whether you’re a student or not, you can’t go to Milan and not visit its wonders. Amongst these are:
- The Cathedral of Milan – one of the biggest and most astonishing cathedrals in the world.
- The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II – one of the world’s most beautiful shopping centres
- The Piazza della Scala – the liveliest area, where you’ll find the famous Scala Theatre
- The Fashion Quarter – Here, you’ll find the most prestigious boutiques in the city. The most important streets are Via Montenapoleone and Via della Spiga.
- The Monumental Cemetery – A place with magnificent architecture, especially its tombs that make the cemetery an ‘open air’ museum- truly astonishing.
- ‘The Last Supper’ by Leonardo Da Vinci – An unmissable cultural site, for tourists and those living in Milan.
Where to live on your Erasmus in Milan

Living as a student Milan is rather expensive. If you were to rent a place to live, you won’t find anything cheaper than €350. If you like going out a lot and eating in restaurants, bear in mind that this is also expensive in Milan. Also, it’s normal to pay around €500 for a single room.
To find the best offers, it’s useful to look at websites such as “stanzesingole.it”, where there are a wide range of rooms that you can search through. It’s also worth a look at “easystaza” or “babeka”. Although, there are also Halls of Residence available in the areas near the universities, with prices are quite reasonable, but you will have to be fast as spaces fill up quickly. This is the key for finding good offers in Milan!
Where to go out

Generally, Erasmus students recommend going out in an area called Moscova, where you’ll find a bar named Radetzky and a club (aptly named) ‘The Club’. However, if you prefer a quieter evening, a good choice would be having a few beers in the local bars such as Colonne di San Lorenza or Navigli.
Above all, it’s a very chic city with a great night-life. You’ll find a party without fail from Monday to Friday. Especially for Erasmus students, the most popular night to go-out is Friday, even though there are events on all week.
The club prices are usually quite reasonable, around €10 including 2 drinks, or €1 without drinks! Awesome prices!
Where to eat on your Erasmus in Milan

Italy is famous for its good food including its marvellous pasta. However, particularly in Milan, Erasmus students tend to eat snack-type meals, mainly because you can find open buffets which include a drink, for around €7-10, especially in the Navigli area. Near the Duomo, there is Pizzeria Mundial and Pizzeria Di Genaro which are the two most recommended italian pizzerias for students.
